Past
My first challenge in planting SACC was to convince my wife that God was leading us in this direction. After praying about this I decided to
break the news to Donna. We went to lunch one day, and I said to Donna: “What do you think about us getting together with 6-8 couples and
exploring the possibility of planting a new church?” Her response: “I like that idea..." I was shocked! A couple weeks later, we had an
information/question & answer meeting at my house with about six another couples. Shortly after that meeting, those six couples, along with a
few other curious folk met in my living room and we conducted our first semi-formal Sunday morning gathering. We sang a few praise and
worship songs, we prayed, studied God’s Word, and of course we took up an offering. God confirmed our calling by raising up over $3000 our
first meeting! In October 2003, we launched as a mission church, in Hawthorne Elementary School, Hampton, GA. In February 2004 we moved
to Fayetteville, the “Little Yellow House”, in February 2006 we shared a facility with Corinth Baptist Church and in February 2009 we moved to
our current location. God has brought us a mighty long ways from 6 families meeting in my living room, but the journey is not over, indeed, the
journey has just begun!
Present
We are excited to be a young African American PCA church of about 120 people. We currently have about 15 active ministries at SACC. Our
leadership team is comprised of a gifted group of dedicated men and women who love the Lord and who are committed to the growth and
development of South Atlanta Community Church. We have conducted many baptismal services and since we have started meeting as a
church, we have seen over 20 new conversions!
Future
The future of SACC rests in the hands of our sovereign Lord. It is our prayer that God will cause us to be faithful stewards of this ministry to
which we have been entrusted. Also, it is our prayer that God will cause us to be fruitful as we seek to become a community of worshippers
who will glorify His name and influence the people of south Atlanta and beyond to follow His Son Jesus Christ!
Ruling Elders
Our elders are a close knit group of godly men who love the Lord. These men have undergone intensive Officer training and are qualified,
according to 1Timothy 3:1-8, to serve as elders. Additionally, these men have demonstrated a high level of dedication to their wives and
families and commitment to the local church. The congregation is confident that these men are uniquely gifted to serve and lead South Atlanta
Community Church through the many challenges and opportunities that God will reveal in the years to come!
